1. I am in love with your blog, Hello!Self, not only is it gorgeous, but it hits right at the heart of celebrations…creating memorable moments
Hola my friend!Today I wanted to share this papercut with you, the title is Self-Contained. This piece will be at Couturier Gallery in September of this year. Lots of ideas came to my mind when I was creating this piece. When my brother came to visit us we enjoyed the luxury of having long conversations. We talked about so many things. Talking with my brother is a gift to me because we have the exact same background; we come from
I remember reading something like this somewhere: "The heart is the only broken instrument that works" I liked this idea because it is so true. Thinking about this idea is how I started developing the piece below titled El Corazon. Nothing makes you grow more than the process of healing a broken heart. I lost track of how many times my heart has been broken over the years, but at this point in my life and after experiencing pain in
And here is another finished piece I still have some more pieces to share with you. I am working hard to finish everything for the show as planned :) Yay!!
If you're in Los Angeles, California in September of 2009, please stop by Couturier Gallery to see
It has been sooo long since the last time I posted a new papercut! But here I am with a new piece.I had the best time cutting it. At some point I felt as if I was the flying girl herself.
This is a papercut-drawing that I created last year but I think I never shared in this blog. It's now owned by someone very special, I gave it to her as a present.
I love the way the "fur" came out in this piece. I had to pock soooooooo many little holes on the paper to create this effect! But I am happy that I did it. I think that it adds so much dimension to the surface. The two pictures above make me smile :)Because the tiny illuminated freckles remind me of Christmas!Yay!! They make me really happy :)The paper is not glued to the background, instead, it's suspended between two piecesof glass to create the shadows. It looks really special in person :)
kI am very excited about sharing this piece with you. It took me a long time (months) to finish it but I am so pleased with the final result. This year I have been doing lots of meditation, reading and thinking about emotional growth. Then, I felt inspired to create a special and unique paper piece that contained all those elements.i9 kkThis piece is about emotional growth and about introspection. I think that in order to develop our inner world we constantly need to
Here is a sweet girl greeting her tiny bird in the morning. The first picture looks flat because it is a scan, but the way the piece looks in person is like in the last 2 pictures. The paper was embossed from the back with my wooden tools to achieve that nice volume. I love the tiny vignette underneath the girl, that's a detail that I would love to use in other pieces as well.I carefully glued this papercut
